LE PETITE RETREATS
Want to spend some time listening to God in the midst of a busy life? Desire to slow down enough to know your deepest longings? Hearing, but not yet recognizing the invitations God is extending to you for this summer season? These mini-retreats are designed to help cultivate the heart, mind, body, and soul to live into the wholeness that God offers.
Over a 3-hour period, these separate offerings can be taken individually or as a set. Each retreat is $50; please register for each retreat separately. Minimum of 6 people in each retreat, max 10.
Engaging a Rhythm of Grace for the Summer – June 21, Thursday – 9:30-12:30pm – Take time as summer begins to establish an intentional way of living, focusing on one or two practices that bring life in the midst of the laziness and chaos of summer. Following Jesus Christ’s words of Matthew 11 28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly,” this time sets aside a practical tool to start living into a Rhythm of Grace.
Listening into the Deep Wells of God’s Heart – June 27, Wednesday – 1-4pm – Finding the place to listen and be listened to, this time provides an opportunity to practice hearing one’s own heart through the deep well of God’s heart. The longings of our hearts often are neglected or dismissed as being irrelevant to God’s voice in our life. However, the art of listening provides a place for the Holy Spirit to move us towards a fuller and deeper awareness of what God is asking of and speaking into our lives. As Paul says in 2 Corinthians 8 9-11 “You know the grace that has come to us through our Lord Jesus the Anointed. He set aside His infinite riches and was born into the lowest circumstance so that you may gain great riches through His humble poverty. Listen, it’s been a year since we called your attention to this opportunity to demonstrate God’s grace, so here’s my advice: pull together your resources and finish what you started.” In listening, you’ll find God’s grace ready for your journey.
Creativity and the Heart of God – July 21, Saturday – 9:30-12:30 – Made in the image of God, you have the capacity to express God’s heart in the various mediums of creativity – through writing, drawing, painting, singing – that touches you as well as others. During this time together, we will have time to play, designing something unique to you that will be a reminder of God’s heart. Through contemplative practice, engagement with one another, and the supplies to create, you will participate just as Paul says in Galatians 6: 4-5 “Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.” Live creativity as a child of God.
